\"><div class=\"row-bg-wrap\"> <div class=\"row-bg\" ><\/div> <\/div><div class=\"row_col_wrap_12_inner col span_12  left\">\n\t<div  class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column column_container vc_column_container col child_column no-extra-padding inherit_tablet inherit_phone\"   data-padding-pos=\"all\" data-has-bg-color=\"false\" data-bg-color=\"\" data-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-animation=\"\" data-delay=\"0\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"vc_column-inner\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t<p><strong>Green Technology Application for the Development of Low Carbon Cities (GTALCC) is a project with the key objective of facilitating the implementation of low carbon initiatives in at least five cities in Malaysia. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project will be an example of a clear and integrated approach by removing barriers to integrated low carbon urban planning and development through three methods:<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"nectar-fancy-ul\" data-list-icon=\"icon-salient-check\" data-animation=\"false\" data-animation-delay=\"0\" data-color=\"accent-color\" data-spacing=\"15px\" data-alignment=\"left\"> \n<ul>\n<li class=\"\">\n<div class=\"list-container selector\">\n<div class=\"content-wrap\">\n<div class=\"dfd-content-title-small\">Policy support for the promotion of integrated low carbon urban development, thus enabling cities to implement and adopt integrated low carbon development plans and programmes;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">\n<div class=\"list-container selector\">\n<div class=\"icon-wrap\">Creating awareness and institutional capacity development to expedite appraisal, approval and implementation of strategic urban development, and ensure cities are aware of planning and implementing low carbon technology applications; and<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\">\n<div class=\"list-container selector\">\n<div class=\"icon-wrap\">To encourage low carbon technology investments and green growth in Malaysian cities.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t<p><strong>The project is estimated to reduce GHG emissions by 346,442 tonnes CO2\u00a0equivalent (tCO2eq) at end of the project in 2019, and 2,152,032 tCO2eq over the lifetime of the project investment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This reduction will contribute to the Government\u2019s targets to reduce its GHG emissions intensity of GDP by 45% by 2030, relative to 2005 levels as pledged by Malaysia at the 21st\u00a0Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris at the end of 2015.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"fws_69e98d2eddee1\" data-midnight=\"\" data-column-margin=\"default\" class=\"wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_row inner_row\"  style=\"\"><div class=\"row-bg-wrap\"> <div class=\"row-bg\" ><\/div> <\/div><div class=\"row_col_wrap_12_inner col span_12  left\">\n\t<div  class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column column_container vc_column_container col child_column no-extra-padding inherit_tablet inherit_phone\"   data-padding-pos=\"all\" data-has-bg-color=\"false\" data-bg-color=\"\" data-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-animation=\"\" data-delay=\"0\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"vc_column-inner\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"img-with-aniamtion-wrap\" data-max-width=\"100%\" data-max-width-mobile=\"default\" data-shadow=\"none\" data-animation=\"none\"  style=\"margin-bottom: 10px; \">\n      <div class=\"inner\">\n        <div class=\"hover-wrap\"> \n          <div class=\"hover-wrap-inner\">\n            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-with-animation skip-lazy\" data-delay=\"0\" height=\"44\" width=\"50\" data-animation=\"none\" src=\"https:\/\/artifex.com.my\/sedamalaysia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/icon_002.png\" alt=\"\"  \/>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div><h2 style=\"font-size: 16px;line-height: 1.35;text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading vc_custom_1763377088333\" >Malaysia has pledged that achievement of 35 percent of this target is on an unconditional basis, with another 10 percent conditioned upon receiving adequate climate finance, appropriate technology transfer, and capacity building from developed countries.  Achieving this target is certainly a challenge for us as it requires cooperation and commitment from every citizens not only the public and private sectors. The knowledge of low carbon development, economy and sustainable development need to be widely educated to the public.<\/h2>\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t<p>The Authority was appointed as the implementing agency for this project and received a grant of RM4.3 million for the implementation process as well as administration and technical services. An inception workshop was held in Q4 2016 and reports of the inception workshop, annual progress and annual work plan were completed and handed over to KeTTHA and UNDP. This project will run for five years, participating stakeholders will have potential to become strategic partners for other projects in future.<\/p>\n<p>In order for Malaysia to be on par with other environmental savvy countries like Denmark and Sweden, public participation and engagement play important roles in crafting strategies and creating new ideas on the implementation of low carbon city development that can be undertaken in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nTherefore, in 2017, the focus of GTALCC was intensifying human capital development through trainings including train-the-trainer sessions, and apprenticeship programmes for competent personnel.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is to strengthen the local expertise and create the demand and supply of low-carbon-city expert for the nation. The local authorities and public were given opportunities to participate through promotional and public awareness programmes.
